A simple question. A surprisingly useful answer.

Are you off
your baseline?

You know those moments when you don’t quite feel like yourself? You’re snappier than usual. Your mind won’t switch off. Everything feels like effort. Or you’ve gone strangely flat and can’t be bothered with any of it.

You might call it stress, overthinking, anxiety, a bad mood. Or just “one of those days.” But what if there’s a simpler explanation?

You’re not broken.You’re overloaded.

What is your baseline?

Enough of you available to choose what happens next.

Present enough to notice what’s happening. Clear enough to think. Steady enough to choose. Available enough to connect.

Baseline isn’t about being perfectly calm. That would be lovely, but life did not read the brochure.

It means having enough internal availability for awareness, perspective, communication and purposeful action.

A completely full glass with one suspended drop about to make it overflow
It may be the last drop.
It isn’t always the whole story.

The problem isn’t always what just happened

One more drop. The whole thing spills over.

Was that final drop enormous? No. It was simply the drop that arrived when there was no room left.

People can work the same way. The comment, request, delay or minor inconvenience may not be the whole reason you reacted. It may have landed on top of everything you were already carrying.

Carrying & carryover

The event can end before your system gets the message.

You can leave the conversation but still carry the tension. Finish the working day but keep solving it in your head. Say “I’m fine” while your body quietly files an appeal.

And it isn’t always something from today. Some of what you’re carrying may have been with you for months. Some may have been quietly tagging along for years. You don’t have to dig through your entire past to notice that it is still affecting the state you’re living from now.

When one experience doesn’t fully leave before the next one arrives, pressure builds. Eventually, something small gets blamed for spilling a very full glass.

It may not be an overreaction.
It may be an overloaded reaction.

Two very different flows

Same moment.
Different starting state.

The Baseline Reset Method™

Three moves.
One useful shift.

You don’t have to fight the feeling, analyse it or write a five page journal entry about your feelings or where they came from. Meet what’s here, let some pressure move, then use the space you’ve made.

01

Feel It

Notice what is present without turning it into a verdict about who you are.

This is a state. It is not your identity.
02

Free It

Allow some of the emotional pressure you’re carrying to loosen and release.

Space before strategy.
03

Flow From It

Notice what becomes available, then choose one small response that matches where you want to go.

Direction before perfection.

The thought reversal

Sometimes you don’t need a better thought.
You need more room to think.

Trying to reason clearly while overloaded can be like reorganising the kitchen while the smoke alarm is screaming.

Technically possible. Not the ideal moment.

Resetting isn’t avoiding the problem. It helps you meet the problem with more of yourself available.

Now check your baseline

Where are you
right now?

Don’t diagnose yourself. Don’t choose the answer you think you should give. Tap the description that feels most relevant. The dial isn’t an exam.

At baseline

You may have enough space to think, connect and choose. Notice this as a place you can recognise and return to, not as perfection.

Why I created BRM

This began as something I needed too.

I didn’t create the Baseline Reset Method from theory alone. It grew from what I used to help get my own life back on track.

It gave me a simpler way to understand what was happening when I didn’t feel like myself. I wasn’t broken. I was carrying more than I had room for.

Through my own lived experience, and years of working with people who were struggling, reacting or shutting down, I kept seeing the same thing.

Sometimes people don’t need more advice, analysis or labels. They need a practical way to release some pressure, reconnect with themselves and choose what happens next.

That’s why I created BRM. A simple way back to yourself when life has knocked you off your baseline.

Less explaining. More experiencing.

You don’t have to sort your whole life out.

Just create enough space for your next response to belong to you. No diagnosis. No forced positivity. No need to have your life beautifully colour coded first.

Baseline Reset Method is a practical self regulation approach, not therapy, diagnosis, or emergency support. If you feel unsafe or unable to cope, contact local emergency or crisis support.
